What is a Bridge Crane?
A bridge crane consists of parallel runways with a traveling bridge spanning the gap. The lifting component, the hoist, travels along the bridge. Unlike mobile cranes or forklifts, bridge cranes utilise the overhead space of your building, keeping your floor clear of obstructions and significantly reducing the risk of workplace accidents.
Our Range of Overhead Lifting Systems
Every facility has unique requirements. We offer a diverse fleet of bridge crane configurations to meet various load capacities and structural limitations:
Single Girder Bridge Cranes
The most cost-effective solution for light to medium-duty applications. These cranes are lightweight, easy to install, and ideal for facilities with limited headroom. They offer excellent floor coverage without requiring massive structural reinforcements.
Double Girder Bridge Cranes
For heavy-duty lifting and maximum hook height, double girder cranes are the industry standard. These systems are designed to handle larger capacities (often exceeding 10 tons) and are perfect for steel mills, foundries, and heavy machinery manufacturing.
Bespoke & Underhung Systems
If your building lacks traditional pillars, our underhung cranes attach directly to the roof structure. We also provide bespoke engineering for specialised environments, including explosion-proof hoists and high-speed automated systems.
Enhance Your Facility Today
Investing in a bridge crane is an investment in the future of your business. By optimising your vertical space and improving your material handling capabilities, you create a safer, more profitable environment.

What is the difference between a bridge crane and a gantry crane?
A bridge crane is permanently fixed to the building structure (usually on runways attached to walls or columns). A gantry crane has legs and moves on floor rails or wheels, making it more portable but requiring more floor space.
How often do bridge cranes need to be inspected?
Under UK law (LOLER), bridge cranes used for lifting goods must undergo a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 12 months. If the crane is used for lifting people, this frequency increases to every 6 months.
Can a bridge crane be installed in an existing building?
Yes. We can often retro-fit cranes into existing structures. If the building's columns cannot support the load, we can design a "freestanding" crane system that supports itself without stressing the building’s walls.
What is the maximum capacity of your bridge cranes?
We offer everything from light-duty 500kg systems to heavy-duty double girder cranes capable of lifting over 100 tonnes. Our engineers will help determine the right capacity for your specific needs.
Do you provide operator training?
While we focus on the engineering and maintenance, we can recommend accredited training partners to ensure your staff are fully certified to operate your new overhead crane safely.
